Background and Education
Peter was born on the 18th July 1948 and is currently 58 years of age.
He resides at 13 Fraser Street, New Town, 7008 and his home number is (03) 6228 5825.
Peter graduated at the University of Tasmania in 1973 and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 1974
Immediately thereafter Peter commenced practice with one of Hobart's largest legal firms where he remained until early 2005.
Peter was a partner of that firm for approximately 28 years.
During his first 6 years of practice Peter regularly appeared as Counsel in the Criminal Court and successfully defended persons charged with a variety of serious crimes.
When a former partner of that firm was appointed Solicitor-General, Peter took over the carriage of that partner's practice and since then, and for the past 27 years,
has practised almost exclusively in the areas of civil and commercial litigation in the Supreme Court for both corporate and private clients.
Peter has appeared as Counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants in complex and lengthy defended Supreme Court litigation.
In addition, Peter has appeared as Counsel before the Full Court and has successfully represented workers and employers
in proceedings before the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Tribunal.
Peter is extremely familiar with the mediation/conciliation process, having attended such conferences in the Supreme Court and the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Tribunal on countless occasions.
Peter possesses good interpersonal skills and has demonstrated the ability to communicate on all levels.
Peter has the ability to work under pressure, manage priorities and to comply with tight schedules
and it remains his aim to provide timely, cost effective and accurate advice to his clients.
Peter enjoys good health, is enthusiastic, energetic and regularly participates in a number of recreational activities.
